Lyseo comprehensive (junior high) is a school for about 400 pupils aged 13-16 with about 40 staff members. It is situated in the centre of Joensuu and functions in a building inaugurated in 2006.

In addition to regular classes the school has music- and sports-oriented classes. Lyseo comprehensive school offers its students education in accordance with their own abilities, based on the national curriculum. The aim is to provide the students with sufficient knowledge and skills for life, secondary education and life-long learning.
